Moved blog

Today I moved this blog to the place where I have the rest as well, so it is easier to post things on this blog without having to login and logout all the time back and forth, that is frustrating, so now it should work much better.
The only thing is that I need to move photographs as well and add them to this blog, this will happen somewhere within the next few weeks.
With a baby nursing and needing caring it can be difficult to do all in one blow.

Gehaakte stermotieven - Eva Behrens

Years ago I owned a book called: Gehaakte stermotieven, by Eva Behrens (crocheted star motivs). I loved it. For some years now its gone. I have been searching for it for ages now, didn't think of searching online, today I did. So I got lucky. I found it in a few Dutch places. One place was Bol.com, but there the 2nd hand sellers won't send outside of Holland. So that didn't make me too happy. Then I started a search on marktplaats.nl and found it 2x times there. So I have e-mailed the first seller with the question whether she will sell it to me and send to the UK. Hopefully she will. Somehow I really hate it when books that I love disappear just like that.
But then, with our move more things disappeared, which I really hate. I do wonder how this can happen. A whole box I could understand, but one thing only? Or just 2 things, that doesn't make any sense.
Hopefully no moving in the next couple of years.

Hoi Diana,

dat zijn echte mysteries van verhuizen, ik ken ze maar al te goed ;o).
Mocht het rechtstreeks versturen naar de UK niet lukken dan kan het altijd wel via mij; moet je maar even laten weten dan.

Nappie covers

A few days ago I made some nappie covers for our new baby. They turned out really nice. Soon I will post pictures of those as well. Now I need to continue with some All-In-Ones and some plain cotton nappies. Baby will not wait forever to be born.

Frilled cardigan

YES! Its almost done, and it looks good!
The only thing that my daughter doesn't like about it, is that the sleeves are to her opinion a tad long. I think they are fine. I have also told her that she can now grow a bit and not in 2 months not fit into it anymore, as she is still growing quite a lot. It just looks gorgeous, I will post a picture as soon as I have one, with her in it.

crochet patterns

I have just come to the thought that I haven't found any patterns yet for lingerie which are crochet. I would love to give that a try as well. I wonder what the issue is. Maybe I should make some myself, as crochet is very easy and I have no problems making my own things with that. I think I will have a think about that and see what I can come up with.
Somehow to me crochet is much easier than knitting, and knitting is already a piece of cake. I have already made my own wool soakers for my youngest, without pattern, so I guess I really should give it a try.
The light spots on the top soaker are from the lanolin that I used on it. I make my own special easy to use powder which you can just use on the wool program in your washing machine, coz otherwise it would all take me way way way too long to lanolize and stuff. Quick and easy is how I like it.

Gorgeous Finnish Pattern

I have in the meantime found a translation to English. I am super happy.

I will put it in the links list, so anyone can find it later as well.

Heirloom knitting

21 december 2007: Today, while browsing on Ravelry I read about the most amazing lace pattern I have ever seen. The Princess Shawl : http://www.heirloom-knitting.co.uk/projects11.html
This is definitely something I will have to make some day. Right now there is too much going on in my life, but I will make sure I will buy this pattern within the next few months to make sure I have it here to make it later on. It is just gorgeous.

stitch 'n bitch nation

13 december 2007: Yesterday I was very happy, I got a nice parcel delivered. In it was the book stitch 'n bitch nation. I ordered it as I saw a wonderful pattern on Ravelry, called quick and dirty. With checking I found there were more patterns in there that I would like to make, so I decided to buy it.
Well... when it arrived I was very pleased as there are more patterns in there that I like than I thought.
So this book is going to keep me busy, just like Knitting Lingerie Style will keep me busy.
Now only the yarns, that will take a bit of time, as I want to order some from Elann.

Ravelry discovery

A few days ago I found a great designer on Ravelry. Her name is Renee Leverington. She designs pagan inspired garments. Most of them have lacy knitting in them. The socks are really cool too. they have nice cables, I love cables.

Well my other favorite designer is also on Ravelry, so that is really cool. Her name is Joan McGowan-Michael. She designs lingerie inspired garments, including bra's and panties. Most of the garments that are shown here are designs by her.

Gorgeous Finnish pattern

Just have a look at the following link:

I just sooo wish I could read Finnish. I will give it a shot to see how far I can get, I have tried online translations, but no, that doesn't work very well, most words stay Finnish.
If there is anybody reading my blog that can help me out, please feel free to contact me. I am no good at Finnish so far.

I don't know finnish either, but really if you can find some similar pattern like maybe the flower basket shawl, I think it would be easy to just put this site's charts into another shawl pattern.
I like this one too, and may choose it as my next lace project. Maybe we could work through this together?
I have just discovered you and your blog on ravelry, so I am not sure if my comment is helpful to you or not. But if you are not in a hurry (I am very busy) I may be able to help better.

Wool soaker

I just found a nice pattern for a wool soaker. I will make that one soon for our new baby to be and see how well it works.
The pattern is for a larger child, but I will simply make it smaller.

This is the pattern, its ribbed:
#3,5 / 3,75 needles. Worsted wool
Cast on 52 stitches.
Do 8 rows in K2,P2 ribbing.
Do an eyelet row (k2,yo, p2tog) *this row is optional for drawstring
K2,p2 for 16-18 more inches
Do an eyelet row again if you want the drawstring
K,2,p2 for 8 more rows.
Cast off.
Stitch up the sides leaving a hole on each side for baby's legs.
Cuffs: You can add cuffs if desired by picking up stitches around the leg holes. Make sure that the # of stitches is divisible by 4 and do a K2,P2 rib. Make sure you have enough stitches or the cuffs will be too tight. The cuffs can be quite loosely, that is no problem, just make them long enough. You can also try the soaker without cuffs.

November 2007 - Marta

Marta is cool to knit, I am making one in dark purple for myself and one in light blue for may daughter. But cannot continue right now, need some help first, as I stated in my previous post of today.

Need help.

I have come to a level of having to make out of a certain amount of stitches another amount, and this on 3 of my projects. As I know I am not too wonderful with doing that bit of math, I always ask my partner to help me out with this. Unfortunately he is a bit busy right now, so I will have to wait before I can continue. Somehow I have no patience. But there is still another project that I can continue with, so I won't have to be bored.

First I will continue now with some sewing, as I need to make some maternity trousers, as I don't have many fitting trousers any more :-)

After that I will make another blouse and then continue with undies for several family members :-)

November 2007 - Alene

I have started knitting another project, as Nicole is virtually finished. I need to put buttons on Nicole, but have to wait until after baby is born, as I cannot really fit it very well now.
So I have started knitting Alene from White Lies Designs, a very very nice pattern, very easy to knit. I am in the meantime 2/3 done already with the top. After that the boyshort, which should be really easy as well.
Somehow I am totally in love with the designs of Joan McGowan-Michael. She is actually one of the few designers that I really like most of the collection of, this is very rare for me, as I am really picky.

Shrug for Anna

Somewhere in between I have knit a light blue shrug for my little girl. That was also really easy, it was a very easy pattern to start with, really for beginners. She loves it.

October 2007 - Nicole

With the parcel of september I had 2 yarn packs next to some loose patterns. The other pack was for Nicole, this was in black as well, this time a really dark bright black, as I am not really a peachy girl. I am working on that now and have since Sunday ended up going throw it really fast, I am halfway getting it finished now. The making up excluded with that. I do expect it to be done early November. It is done in the meantime (23/11/2007). I do have to add the buttons on the back however, and will wait with that for a while, until after baby is born, as now I cannot really make it fit the way I would like it to fit.

September 2007 - Sophia Baby Doll and Boyshort

In september 2007, after receiving another shipment from White Lies Designs, I started knitting Sophia Baby Doll and Boyshort in black. Again, really easy and quick knitting, at home educators gatherings, while watching tv, which ever. Its done since yesterday, completely put together with all ribbon and feathers and all on there. I did decide that I wanted to crochet the rims in another colour though, as fully black was not my thing this time.

July 2007 - Lucy's Chemise Nightie

As Trish and Monica went so smooth, I decided to continue with the designs from White Lies Designs that I liked. So I bought Lucy's Chemise Nightie and started knitting in July 2007. This was also really easy, it really surprised me how quick and I easy I manage to knit it. It was done in 3 to 4 weeks, just the odd moment knitting while watching tv or something. I have made this is cherry red. I am not really into peach, so cherry red worked better for me. As soon as I have pictures of my own made garment I will add those as well.

April 2007 - Trish & Monica

In april 2007 I started knitting Trish's Mini-Basque Corselette with the matching Monica's lace stockings. I thought it would be really difficult, as it doesn't look like its easy to knit, but to my surprise it was actually relatively easy to knit, therefore I was done with both projects in about 6 weeks times. I only knit during bits and pieces on evenings and weekends, sometimes while playing one of my online games. That is how easy it was, and it looks gorgeous. The material is also really cool. Its Fixation from Cascade. I really love it. I want to try a similar material from Elann.com, and knit the same set in black some day, with red ribbon and see how that material is.
